Accomodations and Modifications

To meet the needs of all students we use a combination of Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction as outlined in Learning for All (2013).

Individual Education Plans

Carefully and collaboratively created IEP which build on Special Literacy Diet Strategies appropriate for each students' needs in line with Individual Education Plan (IEP) Resource Guide (2004).

Assessment and regular tracking of benchmarks and goal achievement. Goals co-created wit students

Regular review and if needed amendment of IEP throughout year.

French: French teacher uses AIM Program, and for our students who attend they focus on development of Oral skills  only.

Social Studies/Science: Collaborate with mainstream Grade 5/6 teacher to offer added supports for comprehension, knowledge building and vocabulary to support topics being covered.  Our students are offered alternative assessment opportunities to show their learning and receive in homeroom support to complete tasks.

With the guiding principle that all students can succeed, "universal design and differentiated instruction [as] effective and interconnected means of meeting the learning or productivity needs of any group of students." - Education for All, 2006
